Since completing Walkabout to Wisdom, I have felt an ongoing need to continue working with Nature’s teaching and applying that to a cause I deeply connect with. That cause is supporting/enhancing the vitality of horses, both domestic and wild – hence the founding of Sleipnir’s Wisdom LLC. In fact, this idea initially came from my experiences travelling the Australian Outback for it was during this time, working with horses in multiple ways, I came to further appreciate how important they are as teachers for humanity. And that how we treat them is how we treat ourselves in many ways.
It is only when we make their life better, as is the case for all animals, that we make our own life, and the lives of those around us, better. As Albert Schweitzer commented – “We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.”
